Dennis Murphy, a Western Washington University alumnus who served as dean of the College of Business and Economics for 25 years, addressed Western graduates and their families at the winter Commencement ceremony, Saturday, March 21, in Carver Gymnasium.

"Canines on Campus," formerly known as "Pet Partners," is a program on campus where volunteers bring dogs to campus to share in some canine affection. Whatcom Therapy Dogs and Dogs on Call are the two organizations which provide volunteers to the on-campus program.
Jim Schuster and Kevin Majkut, both recently retired from Viking Union administration at Western Washington University, returned to the VU Monday to be presented with a hand-carved bench made in their honor.
The new Charles J. (Jerry) Flora Marine Education Building at the Shannon Point Marine Center was officially introduced Thursday at a ceremony in Anacortes.
Flora, who served as Western’s eighth president from 1967 to 1975, passed away late in 2013 at age 85.
The 21st Annual Employee Art Show closes Friday at 1:30 p.m.; the exhibit is set up in Viking Union Room 565. Show hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, March 12, and 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 13.
