U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell visited the Western Washington University campus Friday, May 1, to visit the Institute for Energy Studies, Science, Mathematics and Technology Education programs and to meet with the student Smart Solar Window team for a demonstration of their window project. While at Western, Cantwell held conversations with a variety of campus sustainability leaders.

Eight Western Washingon University employees were honored with exceptional effort awards at the 38th Annual Employee Recognition Ceremony Wednesday, April 29, in the PAC Main Stage Theatre.
The 100C main entry of the Fine Arts Building on Western Washington University's Bellingham Campus will closed for renovation through 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 13.
The building houses Western's departments of Art and Design, in addition to the Western Gallery.
Before the main entry work began, WWU Communications and Marketing intern Margaret Degman wwalked the building to create this photo tour of its varied spaces.
WWU Humans vs. Zombies, one of largest clubs at Western Washington University, is holding its spring game for the next week. It is a free-to-play, eight-day game of tag on campus involving two teams: Humans and Zombies. Zombies try to tag humans while humans defend themselves with approved Nerf blasters and socks.
Twenty-two students nominated for Student Employee of the Year were honored in a special event in the Wilson Library Reading Room at Western Washington University on Friday, April 17, 2015.
Cameron Little is the winner of the 2015 Student Employee of the Year. It was also announced that Little also is the 2014-15 Western Association of Student Employment Administrators student employee of the year.

Western Washington University’s College of Fine and Performing Arts and Bellingham House Concerts played host to a unique music and dance collaboration, "The Stream of Life,” April 9 in the Performing Arts Center Concert Hall.
Bryan John Appleby and My Cartoon Heart opened the spring Wednesday Night Concert Series April 8 in the Underground Coffeehouse on Western Washington University's Bellingham campus.
The concert series continues April 15 with Baby Cakes and Barrel of Monkeys, followed April 22 by Wild Rabbit and Rivers and Roads. All concerts are free and open to the public.
The Science, Math and Technology Education (SMATE) building, located between Sam Carver Gymnasium and Morse Hall, was completed in 1996. The facility is designed for teacher in-service education and to better prepare education students for teaching math and science.
