The Western Washington University club hockey team defeated rival University of Washington Friday, Sept. 23, in a home match at the Bellingham Sportsplex.
The team's next matchup is against the Portland State University at 10:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Sportsplex. The two teams clash again at 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, also at the Sportsplex.

The Prime Time Band, formed this past February at Western Washington University, performed at the theatre and dance department's kick-off event Friday, Sept. 23, in the Performing Arts Center.
The band also will perform at 8 tonight in the Underground Coffeehouse as a pre-event for the VU Late Night: Fantasy Factory celebration.

The Mobile Ocean Science Information System from Western Washington University's Shannon Point Marine Center visited the Bellingham Public Library Thursday to teach community members about animals and plants native to the marine waters of the Pacific Northwest.
The annual fall info fair from the Associated Students of Western Washington University heralds the beginning of every school year as thousands of new and returning students pack Red Square to connect, reconnect and gather information about clubs and opportunities on campus.
The fair continues today, Sept. 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Red Square. Classes at WWU begin on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
Major Renovation Project Includes Many Sustainable Features
The major renovation of Western Washington University’s Miller Hall has been completed, and the building will open for fall quarter.
William J. Boyd, fire chief of the Bellingham Fire Department, addressed graduates and their families at the summer commencement ceremony at Western Washington University on Saturday, Aug. 20, in Carver Gymnasium.
About 394 undergraduates and 88 master’s candidates received degrees this quarter.
Western Washington University, in partnership with City of Bellingham’s Sister City Association, recently played host to a group of youth and their teachers from Cheongju, South Korea. Mayor Dan Pike held a farewell event for the youth at Bellingham City Hall on Friday, Aug. 12.
The South Korean students enjoyed learning about American culture and English and experiencing and exploring Western and Bellingham.
The renovation of the 1940s wing of Miller Hall is on schedule for substantial completion by Aug. 18, Western Staff Architect David Willett said Wednesday. After that, furniture is moved into the building on Aug. 29, and staff move into the building on Sept. 12. The final completion date is on schedule for Oct. 17, Willett said.
“We always give ourselves a couple of months after to clean up,” he said.
