South Korean youth head home after three weeks at WWU this summer

Western Washington University, in partnership with City of Bellingham’s Sister City Association, recently played host to a group of youth and their teachers from Cheongju, South Korea. Mayor Dan Pike held a farewell event for the youth at Bellingham City Hall on Friday, Aug. 12.

The South Korean students enjoyed learning about American culture and English and experiencing and exploring Western and Bellingham.

On Friday, Aug. 12, an event was held at City Hall to celebrate the last night of the Cheongju Sister City youth program. Bellingham Mayor Dan Pike and Earl Gibbons, Western's new vice provost for Extended Education, were on hand to wish the students well.
