Employees recognized for commitment to Western's Equity and Inclusion Forum workshop series

Sixteen current and former Western faculty and staff were recognized at the Squalicum Boathouse where they were presented with plaques for completing workshops in all four learning concepts in the Campus Equity and Inclusion Forum.

“When these 16 folks signed up for these workshops they had no idea they’d be earning this plaque, being served dinner and being honored by our vice presidents and president. The work came from their heart," said Nick Sanchez, Western's Employment Inclusion manager.

The evening included musical entertainment from Western’s A Capella group, Major Treble, presentation of the certificates, and other gifts such as a copy of Between the World and Me, The Western Reads book for 2016, and reserved front row seats for the upcoming showing of First Person: Diverse Student Stories, a play coming campus in February that highlights the experiences of Western’s own diverse students.

The Lifelong Learning Certificates earners were: Justene Merriman, Haley Halverson, Racheal Scholler, Lisa Rosenberg, Eric Alexander, Allison Page, Tonya Alexander, Brian Bowe, Jeff Bates, Chris Casquilho, Hope Corbin, Emily Weiner,  Nick Sanchez, Krista Mantello, Cristina Nelson, and David Crook.
