WWU's Troy Abel to talk about good environmental PR practices at Feb. 11 event

Troy Abel, assistant professor of Environmental Policy within Western Washington University’s Department of Environmental Studies, will present “Coming Clean and Green” at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11, in Communications Facility 120 on the WWU campus.

The event is free, open to the public and is part of the WWU Huxley College of the Environment Speaker Series, which brings together the environmental studies and environmental science communities along with WWU and Bellingham community members to discuss matters of contemporary environmental concern in the region and the world.

Abel will present ideas from his recent co-authored book “Coming Clean: Information Disclosure and Environmental Performance,” which focuses on the proper release of information when facilities release toxic materials.

In particular, the lecture will explore how some industrial facilities have tried to become more transparent by disclosing information on management and release practices and the health and environmental risks to the surrounding area.
