WWU's Mike Mana to discuss the science of caffeine, nicotine and alcohol at Feb. 7 meeting downtown

Faculty from Western Washington University’s Behavioral Neuroscience Program and Biology and Psychology departments will gather for a neighborhood round-table discussion, “Neuroscience on Tap: Bring Your Own Brain (BYOB),” from 7-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 7, at Bob’s Burgers & Brew, 202 E. Holly St. in downtown Bellingham.

“Pick Your Poison: The Psychopharmacology of Caffeine, Nicotine and Alcohol” is this month’s topic, which will be hosted by Mike Mana, an associate professor in Western’s Psychology Department.

Neuroscience on Tap occurs once per academic quarter, and the last meeting for this academic year will be on April 4. At each meeting, a faculty member leads the discussion of a specific topic, from mental illness to food addiction to brain injury. The location for these meetings is now a private upstairs room at Bob’s Burgers & Brew.
