WWU to Host Talk by Environmental and Social Activist Vandana Shiva Feb. 25

Western Washington University will host a talk by environmental and social activist Vandana Shiva from 6:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 25 on the Performing Arts Center Mainstage on WWU’s campus.

Tickets are $3 for students and $12 for the general public and are available through the WWU Ticket Office at (360) 650-6146 or tickets.wwu.edu.

Vandana Shiva is an activist from New Delhi, India and the author of more than 20 books. She is a world-renowned environmental leader and ecofeminist who has been internationally recognized for her activism condemning globalization, empowering women, and fighting “Big Agriculture” for farm worker’s rights. Shiva was also the recipient of the 1993 Alternative Nobel Peace prize, the Right Livelihood Award.

Shiva’s talk will speak on women in agriculture, the slow food movement, traditional practices, biodiversity, climate change, and other relevant topics.
