WWU plays host to 22nd annual Northwest Guitar Festival April 12-14

Western Washington University’s Department of Music will host the 22nd Annual Northwest Guitar Festival on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 12-14, at the Firehouse Performing Arts Center at 1314 Harris Ave. in Bellingham.

Under the direction of WWU Professor of Music David Feingold, the three-day festival will feature performances by guitarist George Sakellariou and lutenist John Schneiderman, as well as concerts with several other Northwest artists. In addition to the concerts, festival participants will also enjoy master classes and the Festival Competition, a centerpiece of the weekend events.

This year’s festival will conclude with a performance of Rodrigo’s “Concierto D’Aranjuez” performed by the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra and featuring guitarist Sharon Isbin. The Sunday afternoon concert will be held at 3 p.m. at the Mount Baker Theatre, with tickets available through the Mount Baker Theatre Box Office.

Registration for the Festival is $120 and daily passes for Friday and Saturday are available for $55 per day. Patrons can also choose to purchase individual concert tickets for $15 each.

Tickets for the Sharon Isbin concert are sold separately from the Festival through the Whatcom Symphony Orchestra and the Mount Baker Theatre.
