Writing More Effective Proposals - A Series of Workshops

Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) is pleased to once again offer workshops designed to help faculty and staff write more effective proposals to external agencies.   Workshops will provide information and support to faculty and staff in a number of research related areas.  A variety of workshops are offered each quarter.  The sessions are intended to be interactive and are meant to build a community for those involved in writing proposals.

Our fourth and final workshop of the quarter will take place on Nov. 2 from 12-1 p.m. in VU 462A.  The topics of this workshop will be research participant compliance presented by Janai Symons, and lab safety presented by Sue Sullivan. Our workshop series will resume at the beginning of winter quarter.

Janai Symons will help explain issues and answer questions regarding all aspects of research compliance for students, faculty, and staff. She will also discuss the need for responsible conduct of research training for anyone paid from a federal grant.

Sue Sullivan will provide a brief workshop on laboratory safety.  This workshop will give you an overview of your roles and responsibilities as a principal investigator and help you understand risks associated with potential incidents.  She will discuss tools and resources for keeping your students safe as well as Western’s effort in strengthening laboratory safety.

Please contact the RSP Program Coordinator, Coco Besson, at coco.besson@wwu.edu to RSVP for this workshop.  You may also contact Coco to be added to the email list for workshop information.  Graduate students and all faculty are encouraged to attend.
