Worm conference to take place at WWU Saturday

Jackie Rose, an assistant professor of psychology at Western Washington University, will be co-hosting with biology assistant professor Heather Van Epps a conference Saturday, April 16, focused on the C. elegans worm.

The Sea-Bel-Van regional C. elegans meeting historically has alternated between the University of British Columbia and the University of Washington, but Western was specifically requested to host the meeting due to WWU's ideal location and the growing research programs at the university.

Attendees will include faculty, graduate students, post-doctorate students and undergraduates from the British Columbia and Washington state regions. Speakers from University of Washington, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Children’s Research Institute, University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University will be featured, including Keynote Presentations from Fred Hutchinson's Jim Priess and the UW's Dana Miller.

A complete program can be found online. Although the registration deadline has passed, interested Western faculty, staff and students are welcome to attend the lecture portions of the conference, to be held in Academic Instructional Center West Room 204.
