Workshop to explore grant collaboration at WWU

Faculty interested in collaborating on grants at Western Washington University may be interested in the next workshop in Research and Sponsored Programs' series aimed at helping faculty and staff members write more effective proposals to external agencies.

The workshop, scheduled for noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, in Haggard Hall Room 101, will view collaboration on grants as a form a project management, requiring similar skills. This session will be co-presented by Ron Marks, a professional development specialist at Western, and Mariah Warner, a WWU information technology specialist. Marks first will take attendees through the concept of collaboration as a form of project management. Warner will then give an overview of the tools available to Western faculty and staff to facilitate collaboration and grant management. She'll also make recommendations on how best to collaborate with others who may be using a different suite of tools.

Both portions of Wednesday's session will give attendees a high-level overview of the subject, and additional resources will be suggested.

After the 27th, one workshop remains during winter quarter. On Feb. 3, Tracey Finch will discuss topics related to budget justifications and broader impact statements. That presentation will take place from noon to 1 p.m. in Viking Union Room 462.

Graduate students and new faculty are encouraged to attend. To reserve a seat at the third workshop or to be added to the email list for workshop information, contact the RSP program coordinator, Coco Besson, at coco.besson@wwu.edu.
