Women of Color Speak Out presentation coming Feb. 2

The Women of Color Speak Out group will hold a presentation on campus Tuesday, Feb. 2, in Arntzen Hall Room 100.

Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and the event will run from 6 to 8 p.m.

Women of Color Speak Out is a collective of activists working to educate and inform communities on the climate crisis.

In the Tuesday discussion, the group will explore capitalism, colonialism, racism and the prison industrial complex and how they lead into climate change, which impacts mostly people of color, poor people, and especially poor women of color. Touching on subjects such as war, corporations, banks, slavery, private prisons, and white supremacy, they'll go deep into the causes of climate change and how we can combat them.

The event is made possible by the AS Social Issues Resource Center, Students for Renewable Energy, the Ethnic Student Center, the Women’s Center, the Office of Sustainability and AS Environmental & Sustainable Programs.
