Whatcom Volunteer Center offers options for service

For the third year, the Center for Service-Learning at Western Washington University is partnering with the Whatcom Volunteer Center  to connect Western students with volunteer opportunities that benefit the community.

Every Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. in the CSL office (Wilson Library Room 481), Dan Hammill, the volunteer program director for WVC, will be advising students on how to find volunteer opportunities that match their interests, skills and availability.

The volunteer program at the CSL also coordinates monthly weekend service events for students, works with Western clubs to plan service opportunities related to the club’s mission and advises students on volunteer opportunities outside of WVC hours.

Faculty members are asked to encourage their students to take advantage of these opportunities to enrich their education while supporting the community. CSL staff members are happy to give brief presentations during the first one to three minutes of class periods about CSL-WVC services and volunteer opportunities for students.
