Western's Equal Opportunity Office announces name change

Western Washington University's Equal Opportunity Office has changed its name to the Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance (CRTC).

The Office of Civil Rights and Title IX Compliance is responsible for overseeing compliance with civil rights and affirmative action laws, regulations and policies as it relates to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, disability, age, or status as a disabled or other protected veteran. The Office is the institutional point of contact for federal and state agencies for equal opportunity and affirmative action compliance inquiries and compliance confirmation.

"While the name has changed, the Office's mission has not; we continue to provide the same important services to the WWU community," said Melynda Huskey, Western's vice president of Enrollment and Student Services and the University's acting Title IX administrator. "The new name highlights the importance of our civil rights and Title IX responsibilities for the Western community."
