Western's Academy for Lifelong Learning to preview fall program Sept. 8

Western Washington University’s Academy for Lifelong Learning will play host to its Fall Program Preview to highlight upcoming courses and excursions from 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8, at the St. Luke’s Education Center, 3333 Squalicum Parkway in Bellingham.

The public is invited to attend and enjoy light refreshments while learning about the program’s upcoming offerings.

In the spirit of the program belief that "a curious mind never retires," the Academy for Lifelong Learning is open to all interested adults, regardless of age or educational background. Programs cover a wide variety of academic and cultural subjects, including traditional arts and sciences topics. The programs also range in format, giving opportunities to learn in both classroom settings or on excursions. A printable version of the course catalog is available on the website or you may request a copy be sent to you by mail.

Taught by a diverse pool of Western Washington University faculty, faculty emeritus, and experts in many fields and professions, A.L.L. classes open up participants to new ideas. Classes are held at various locations in Bellingham, including at the Bellingham Senior Center and on the WWU campus.

At the preview, course instructors will provide brief descriptions of their upcoming courses and registration will be open before, during, and after their presentations. Some courses that will be available during the fall are “Hollywood in the 1940’s,” “People of Ghana,” “Language and Reality,” and an excursion to the Skagit Opera for Tosca’s opening night.
