Western Washington University’s Ocean STEM After School Program to be Offered This Fall in Anacortes

Western Washington University Youth Programs will offer an Ocean STEM After School program this fall; five sessions will be held at Anacortes Middle School from 3:30-5 p.m. on Tuesdays, Oct. 20 through Nov.17.

Designed for students in grades 5-7 to support success on the Science MSP, Ocean STEM After School Program provides an opportunity for inquiry-based, hands-on learning in an active and engaging environment.

Each session features a different theme, with themes in science, engineering, and technology. Sessions include “Plankton & Algal Blooms,” “Salmon & Their Environment,” “Predators & Prey,” “Climate Change & Biodiversity” and “Our Washington Watersheds.”

Students are asked to bring a rain jacket, healthy snack, journal, pencils and a curious mind.

The Ocean STEM After School Program is provided by Western Washington University Youth Programs in partnership with the Anacortes School District and Shannon Point Marine Center.
