Western to showcase international opportunities Jan. 29

The International Opportunities Fair will take place on the Western Washington University campus from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room. The fair is the largest campus-wide event dedicated to providing information about study, service, volunteer, work and internship positions abroad.

Fair attendees can meet with representatives from approximately 50 organizations. Some participating organizations include Semester at Sea, Adventure Teaching, Council on International Educational Exchange, Peace Corps, U.S. Department of State, Wildlands Studies, and a range of internationally focused programs at WWU.

Also featured are the WWU Global Learning Faculty-led Programs. Join WWU faculty in short-term programs abroad this summer in disciplines such as Environmental Studies, Sustainable Development, Art, Design, Accounting, French, English, Liberal Studies, and Communications, Sciences & Disorders. Programs will take place in Montreal, Guatemala, Greece, India, Italy, Mexico, and Rwanda, to name a few. New programs this summer include a GUR course in Barcelona, Spain; a literature and culture class in Athens, Greece; an art design course in Germany and Switzerland, and a course on religion, history and modernity in Nepal.

To complement the Fair, a number of special presentations of interest to those who are considering international options are planned:

  • Native English speakers with 4-year degrees can teach overseas: Teach English as a Second Language: a panel discussion with employers, 4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, Viking Union Room 552
