BELLINGHAM – Award-winning independent journalist David Barsamian will present “Uprisings: From Kashmir to Egypt to Wall Street” at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 8 in Communications Facility 120 on the Western Washington University campus.

The event is free and open to the public.

Barsamian’s wide-ranging investigative work has taken him across the world over the past 25 years; in September he was deported from India for his work in the region of Kashmir, long contested by both India and Pakistan. He is the winner of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Upton Sinclair Award for independent journalism and was named by the Institute for Alternative Journalism as one of its Top 10 Media Heroes. His presentation will discuss his work in Kashmir, world affairs, the state of journalism, censorship, and the economic crisis.

His most recent book, “How the World Works,” was written with Noam Chomsky, and Barsamian is the longtime host of the weekly radio show “Alternative Radio.”
