Western Marketplace announces expanded functionality and demonstration schedule

The eProcurement Project Team is pleased to announce the rollout of an expanded functionality on the Western Marketplace!  Now instead of completing that Purchase Requisition Form and manually routing it for approval, you can use the non-catalog function of the Marketplace to complete a request, have it routed electronically for approval and Purchasing will then be able to quickly take action to get your purchase started.

You are no longer limited to using the catalog vendors whose logos appear on the Marketplace intro page.  If you know the supplier or have quotes those can be attached, otherwise provide a description of what you need and Purchasing will do the search to get you the best price and delivery terms.  And you will be able to check the Marketplace to see the status of your request!

The Project Team will be conducting a series of demonstrations to familiarize users with how this new functionality will work.  Please review the schedule below, these are drop-in sessions, any time during the 2-hour session, where the experts will walk you through the application and answer your specific questions.

Demonstration Schedule

  • Session 1 Tuesday March 7,  Humanities 242 Lab 12:00 – 2:00
  • Session 2 Thursday March 9,  Parks Hall 210  12:00 – 2:00
  • Session 3 Monday, March 13,  AC Bldg Room 130A, 11:00 – 1:00

In mid-March more specific training sessions will be offered.  If you are already a Western Marketplace user you will find it very easy to use this feature.  If you haven’t yet signed up, then these training sessions will be a great opportunity to get you login credentials and to set up the approval workflow for your purchases.

Contact Hal Verrell in Purchasing (x3068) or Wanna VanCuren in Business and Financial Systems (x2992), acting as co-Project Managers, for more info on the training sessions.  If you want to start the process to get your access authorization contact Susan Banton (x2430) or use this link https://wp.wwu.edu/bfs/2016/02/23/western-marketplace-access-form/
