BELLINGHAM – Western Washington University’s Odyssey of Science & Arts youth program is now available in a Wednesday early-release format for children in grades K-5 from 1:45-5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 25, Feb. 29 and April 25 on the Western Washington University campus.
Odyssey of Science & Arts provides an opportunity for students to explore the fun of science and art in a university setting. Students will discover the "best kept secret" places on Western's campus and ignite their imagination and creativity with hands-on activities in specialized labs, classrooms and the Wade King Student Recreation Center.
In order to ensure appropriate learning levels and an adult to child ration of 1:10, students will be divided into two groups, grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Students can choose to participate in one or all of the three scheduled programs for the remainder of the school year.
Dates and topics include:
- Wednesday, Jan. 25: Science of the Stars -- Astronomy
- Wednesday, Feb. 29: It’s a Small World -- Microscopic Organisms
- Wednesday, April 25: Underwater Wonders -- Marine Science
Individual sessions cost $39 or $99 for all three (a savings of $6 each). The cost includes instruction materials, a snack and a 20-minute parking permit for convenient drop-off and pick-up. Online registration is now open online at www.wwu.edu/youth.
