Volunteers needed to help select scholarship recipients

The Scholarship Center at Western Washington University is looking for committee members to help select scholarship recipients.

Roughly one dozen non-departmental Western scholarships totaling more than $90,000 are available to award to Western’s most accomplished students for the 2012-2013 academic year. The Scholarship Center invites members of Western’s faculty and staff to serve on a scholarship selection committee. This is a great opportunity to learn more about Western’s outstanding students and recognize them for their remarkable achievements.

Scholarship committee members receive a packet including students’ completed scholarship application and evaluation tools. Committee members are asked to read and evaluate the applications and attend a one-hour committee meeting to discuss the applicants and select a recipient. Meetings will be scheduled during the month of May in keeping with each committee members’ availability.

Without the thoughtful consideration of scholarship committee members, recognizing Western students through scholarship awards would not be possible. Those who are interested in serving as a scholarship committee member or who have questions should contact Chantel McMahon in the Scholarship Center at (360) 650-2208 or chantel.mcmahon@wwu.edu.
