Vikings to host West Region of NCAADII soccer tourney

With a 17-match unbeaten streak and an overall 18-1-1 record, the Western Washington University Women’s Soccer team will be a team to beat heading into the NCAA Division II Tournament.

The Vikings (18-1-1 overall, 11-0-1 GNAC) were announced today as the No. 1 seed and a host for the first and second rounds in the West Region of the NCAA DII Tournament Field of 48. This marks the fourth consecutive season and sixth overall in program history to advance to the NCAA Tournament.

Harrington Field on the WWU campus will serve as a host to the first and second rounds of the tournament, with the Vikings receiving a first-round bye. No. 4 UC San Diego (15-5-1) will play No. 5 seed Seattle Pacific (13-4-2) Thursday at 7 pm. The winner of that game will meet the Vikings at 1 pm Saturday in the second round. The other half of the West bracket features No. 2 seed Azusa Pacific (15-2-0), No. 3 seed Sonoma State (12-2-3) and No. 6 seed Point Loma (14-4-0).

Tickets are $7 for general admission ($5 student/Senior over 60) and available by calling the WWU Box Office (360-650-2583) or in person at Harrington Field 1-hour prior to the game.
