WWU Humans vs. Zombies, one of the largest Associated Students clubs on Western Washington University's campus, will hold its fall game beginning Wednesday.

It is a free-to-play, eight-day game of tag on campus involving two teams: Humans and Zombies. Zombies try to tag humans while humans defend themselves with approved Nerf blasters and socks.

The spring game will run from 7 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, through 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22. Fall is the largest game put on by the club, with 400 to 600 players typically participating. Based on this year’s Info Fair attendance, the club is expecting more toward the 600 range. Gameplay is restricted to outside spaces on campus between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

Players will be designated by orange armbands (humans), and orange headbands (zombies). Moderators of the game are designated by bright green armbands. They are on campus to respond to rules violations, reprimand players, and are happy to answer questions from students, faculty, and curious spectators. Players and moderators may start wearing bands the week of registrations to help spread the word.

Anyone can play, but all players are required to attend a registration meeting for rules presentation and receive their player bands and ID cards.

Registration is at 7 p.m. in Academic West Room 210; remaining dates are Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 13 and 14.

Players must attend a registration in order to play the game and are asked to not bring blasters to the meeting. Any questions about blasters may be directed to moderators in person, on the Facebook group or to the club email.

The club operates in close collaboration with campus administration and University Police. This collaboration establishes rules, gameplay restrictions, and the approval of Nerf blasters used in-game. To view the allowed arsenal and rules of the game, please visit http://wwuhumansvszombies.com. The website will be used to track human and zombie populations through the week, announcements and in-game achievements.

Any questions, comments, or concerns can be voiced to moderators in person (wearing green armbands), or sent to the club email at wwuhumansvszombies@gmail.com.
