UPRC hearing on budget proposals to be audiocast live today, May 18

Proposals for Western Washington University's 2011-13 operating budget were posted Wednesday, May 4, on the website for University Planning and Budgeting.

As part of the normal budgetary review process, the University Planning and Resources Council is considering each of the proposals at its meetings, all of which are being audiocast live online. The remaining meeting is May 18, and the areas to be discussed are the College of Business and Economics, the College of Sciences and Technology, Huxley College of the Environment and the Western Libraries.

On May 4, the UPRC heard the proposals for University Relations, Business and Financial Affairs, Student Affairs and Academic Support Services in Academic Affairs (including the Graduate School, but not the Library). On May 11, the UPRC heard the proposals for University Advancement, CHSS, Fairhaven, CFPA and Woodring.

Due to the short time line and the number of proposals, the UPRC will not be able to take public comments during the meetings, but thoughts and comments are critical to the UPRC's assessment of budget proposals. UPRC chair Jeff Newcomer and other members of UPRC will be available to hear comments from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 13, in Old Main Room 340.

Members of the campus community may stop by to share thoughts on the proposals or contact Newcomer or their UPRC representative with comments.
