UPDATE: Diversity Achievement Award nominations due May 15

The deadline for submitting nominations for the Diversity Achievement Award has been extended to Monday, May 15.

Many thanks to those who have already submitted nominations. By extending the deadline, Western hopes to encourage additional nominations over the weekend, especially to recognize students who are doing important work in this area.

Each year at Fall Convocation, the Diversity Achievement Award is presented to recognize an individual (faculty, staff or student) or office, program, department or committee whose distinguished efforts have enhanced diversity and multicultural understanding at Western. Please nominate individuals and/or offices who are deserving of this important recognition. 

Nominees should demonstrate outstanding research, programming, leadership, service to students or the general campus community, and/or teaching related to matters of diversity and inclusion. Nominees should meet one or more of the following criteria:

  • Integrates diversity concepts and values into academic curriculum, management and/or operational functions;
  • Develops methods for increasing and valuing diversity among students, faculty, and/or staff;
  • Maximizes opportunities to achieve diversity;
  • Contributes to promoting an understanding and appreciation of differences by contributing to the body of research on diversity or through other endeavors.
