Undergrads can get funding for research and creative projects from WWU

Money is available to fund undergraduate students' research and creative projects. Grant applications are due Jan. 27.

The objective of the grant program is to provide encouragement for undergraduate students to engage in creative work in their disciplines and to provide some funds which may make it possible for them to do so.

The competition is open to any registered undergraduate student in good standing, and grants are normally awarded in the range of $100 to $500 per project. The program is designed to support individual student projects only.

Application forms are available in the offices of the deans and chairs, on the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs website and from the secretary to the vice provost for research in Old Main Room 530.

Proposals will be reviewed by a faculty committee appointed by the vice provost for research.

At the end of the project, a brief written final report must be prepared by the student and submitted to his/her faculty mentor with a copy to the office of the vice provost for research. In addition, each student should be prepared to present an oral or poster presentation of the results in an appropriate forum.

Grant applications are due to department chairs by Jan. 27, 2011. Chairs need to deliver applications to the vice provost for research by Feb. 9. Winners will be nitified of awards on March 9.

The vice provost for research solicits proposals for consideration in early fall, winter and spring quarters each year. Awards will be available upon approval.
