Today's Japan Night festivities to feature food, dancing, fashion and games

Students from the Asia University America Program at Western Washington University are holding their Japan Night from 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 6, in the Viking Union Multipurpose Room on campus.

On tap for the evening are interactive cultural demonstrations and food sampling, and the event is free and open to anyone who would like to attend.

Visitors can participate in an interactive Japanese fashion display, learn a Japanese traditional dance, make origami, write their names using Japanese caligraphy or play Japanese card games.

The interactive fashion exhibit is put on by WWU's Art Department. This interactive performance will give visitors an opportunity to sample different contemporary fashions and identities from a well-stocked Japanese clothing rack.

Students have prepared a menu of three classic Japanese dishes that will be available for attendees to sample, with an assortment of rice crackers and fine Japanese green tea to compliment the meal.
