Theatre and Dance to hold auditions for its Fall/Winter productions
Cabaret Auditions
Willkommen! Bienvenue! Welcome to Cabaret auditions! We are happy to announce that Cabaret will be auditioning during the first week of school with the following schedule:
Friday, Sept. 24: A dance call will be held from 6-10 p.m. Students will be able to sign up for a 1-hour group timeslot with dance callbacks taking place from 9-10 p.m. Please wear comfortable clothing that you can easily move/dance in.
Saturday, Sept. 25: Individual monologue and song presentations will take place 10 a.m.to 5 p.m., with each student signing up for a 5-minute slot. Please prepare a 1-minute monologue that is show appropriate and two 16-32 bar cuts of musical theatre pieces in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided, so please bring sheet music that is clearly marked (starts, stops, any changes or stylistic choices, etc).
Sunday, Sept. 26: Callbacks will be held Noon to 5 p.m. Students will receive an email Saturday night regarding if they need to attend callbacks.
Auditionees should expect to attend all three days. The audition sign-up form is at cfpa.wwu.edu/auditions-cabaret. There will not be a physical form to sign up on, so all of those interested in signing up must use the website. We look forward to seeing you there!
Sonata Escondida Auditions
We are excited to announce auditions for Sonata Escondida open this week! With guest director Ana María Campoy, this incredible production will rehearse and perform in Winter 2022. To audition, students must film themselves performing a monologue 1-2 minutes in length and include a link to the video on the audition submission page. Submissions are due by 12 pm (noon) Thursday, Sept. 23 and no late submissions will be accepted. Callbacks will be held on Sunday, Sept. 26 starting at 11 a.m. The audition sign-up form are at cfpa.wwu.edu/news/auditions-sonata-escondida. About the show: When a man seeks out his first love, he discovers that time does not heal all things. Set in the desolate mountains of northern Mexico, Luis finds his first love Margaret. There is just one problem. She doesn't want to see him. Over the course of several days, her world unravels as she faces her current female lover, her ex male lover, their daughter, and her piano. In this story, families are not defined by gender.
