Thank you, WWU dispatchers!

National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week is held annually during the second week of April to honor public safety telecommunicators for the commitment, service, and sacrifice they give to their community.

Dispatchers are often the first contact community members have in an emergency. They must skillfully and compassionately support the callers on the phone, as well as the first responders on the other side of the radio. Dispatchers are a vital part of the service the Western Washington University Police Department provides to the WWU community.

Over the years I have been amazed at the compassionate and dedicated individuals who have chosen the path of being a telecommunicator; and our WWUPD Dispatch Team exemplify compassion and dedication to the WWU community. Please join me in recognizing our dedicated dispatchers!
