Tech group to discuss massively open online courses

What is a Massively Open Online Course? Why are these MOOCs getting so much attention in the press? With instruction being given away for free, how do they challenge the higher education funding model? Where are the quality controls? What are they good for, and what does this have to do with us in higher education?

Members of the Western Washington University community are welcome to join the campus Learning Technology Group monthly discussion. These talks are aimed at increasing the campus-wide understanding and use of technology as a teaching tool.

The discussion is slated for 4 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Miller Hall Room 56.

The Learning Technology Group at Western is an ongoing collaboration of Academic Technology and User Services and the Center for Instructional Innovation and Assessment to engage faculty in implementing and evaluating new technologies for teaching.
