Supervisors Invest In Their Own Development at Western

Human Resources Department is pleased to recognize the over 60 staff who have recently completed their STAR (Supervisor Training And Resources) training by attending special all-day trainings during spring and summer quarters.

STAR is a set of classes that is required for all supervisors at Western. This new compilation of the training covered a range of topics and issues, from understanding the hiring process to being able to increase employee engagement. The one-day version of this content now offers supervisors the ability to complete their STAR requirement very quickly.

The nine separate classes will remain available on a quarterly bases, as many people will be inspired to take a deeper dive on some of the subjects or will complete the trainings separately.  The response from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive with wait lists of supervisors, which demonstrates the demand for in-depth professional development.  Attendees have frequently expressed what a good experience they are having in the daylong training with relevant and engaging content.

In speaking with attendees on August 7, President Randhawa stopped by to appreciate the investment these supervisors are making. As he put it,

“The time you take to develop your leadership capacities is invaluable.”  - WWU President Sabah Randhawa

We in Human Resources wholeheartedly agree, and want to recognize and congratulate these growth minded members of our campus community for their commitment to continual professional development.
