Students to present on class in Tanzania Saturday

A handful of students who spent the past summer in Tanzania will share their experiences from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, in Miller Hall Room 105. 

The students were in Tanzania from Aug. 4 to 21 studying environmental studies courses Human Geography of Northern Tanzania and Writing and Photography of the Serengeti with Huxley College of the Environment instructor Tim Scharks.

While in Africa, the students

  • Toured Moshi town
  • Visited Kilimanjaro National Park HQ
  • Experienced local culture through homestays and excursions in Chagga village
  • Examined the photo safari experience from a critical geography perspective
  • Traveled and experienced some of the world's most famous safari destinations
  • Interpreted the East African landscape through writing and photography 

The Sept. 22 presentation is free and open to the public.
