Students, senior citizens to debate cuts to Social Security and Medicaid May 21

Should the government cut Social Security and Medicare to save the budget? On Saturday, May 21, members of the Bellingham Senior Activity Center will join with students from Western Washington University’s Aging in America (Sociology 333) class to debate proposed changes to Medicare and Social Security.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Bellingham Senior Center, 315 Halleck Street. It will also feature performances by La Vida Dance Studio, the senior center's own Young at Heart tap dance troupe, WWU student clubs and opening remarks by Tim Costello, director of the Center for Service-Learning.

This event is free and open to the public, and light refreshments will be served. Donations to the Bellingham Senior Activity Center will be accepted.
