Students honored at CBE leadership luncheon

Six Western Washington University students were selected to participate in the College of Business and Economics Leadership Lunch event Nov. 16 on campus.

The quarterly CBE Leadership Lunch Program recognizes students who have distinguished themselves through scholarship and leadership while in the College of Business and Economics. Students are nominated by faculty in their respective departments.

The students who were selected include Jennifer Bunch, Management, Mt. Vernon, WA; Jon Geller, Information Systems, Sammamish, WA; Ashley Hannawacker, Finance and Marketing, Silverdale, WA; Tracy Sager, Accounting and Operations Management, Lynden, WA; Sophie Wenzlau, Economics and Political Science, Bellingham; and Patrick Donovan, MBA program, Bellingham.

The students were joined at the lunch by several business leaders and four faculty and administrators from the CBE and the Western Foundation. At the lunch, students met with the business leaders to discuss topics concerning organizational leadership and career development. The lunch provided an opportunity for the business professionals to contribute to the educational mission of the College of Business and Economics through their interactions with students and the faculty.

The lunch was sponsored by Drew Wilkens, senior vice president for Bank of the Pacific. The luncheon program was organized by the Center for Excellence in Management Education at the CBE. The Center for Excellence in Management Education provides a variety of programs designed to connect business and industry leaders with faculty and students to promote business and economics education.
