Students can get money for research and creative projects

Money is available to help undergraduate students at Western Washington University pursue research and creative activities projects.

The funds provide encouragement for undergraduate students to engage in creative work in their disciplines. Grant applications are due to department chairs on Jan. 26; the competition is open to any registered undergraduate student in good standing.

Grants will be normally be awarded in the range of $100 to $500 per project. The program is designed to support individual student projects only.

Application forms are available in the offices of the deans and chairs, on the vice provost for Undergraduate Education's website and from the administrative assistant to the VPUE in Old Main Room 480.

Proposals will be reviewed by a faculty committee appointed by the vice provost for Undergraduate Education.

At the end of the project, a brief written final report must be prepared by the student and submitted to his/her faculty mentor with a copy to the office of the vice provost for Undergraduate Education. In addition, each student should be prepared to present an oral or poster presentation of the results in an appropriate forum.

The vice provost for Undergraduate Education solicits proposals for consideration early in every fall, winter and spring quarter. Awards are available upon approval.
