Retired Sterling CEO Debbie Ahl to speak in CBE's speaker series Oct. 15

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will host Debbie Ahl for its Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series from 3 to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct.15, in Communications Building Room 120.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Ahl is the retired president and CEO of Sterling Life Insurance Company. She was also president and CEO of Olympic Health Management Systems, and has nearly 30 years of experience in strategy development, business growth, and corporate leadership. Ahl’s career has spanned successful integrations and four corporate acquisitions. Under her leadership, Sterling had revenues of $1 billion in 2008.

During Ahl’s time with Sterling and Olympic Health Management, she held a variety of executive positions, including executive vice president of Corporate Development, a role in which she was responsible for network development, government relationships, compliance, and regulatory filings and new product development. She also served as the chief operating officer, with the additional responsibilities of sales and marketing.

A nationally recognized speaker, she has testified before Congress on issues of Medicare reform and has spoken elsewhere on topics related to Medicare and senior insurance products for a number of key industry associations.

The WWU College of Business and Economics Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership, and professional development. The Speaker Series is presented by the CBE’s Center for Excellence in Management Education.
