'Wizards @ Western' Lecture Series Continues April 17 with 'Lights and Colors and Waves … Oh My!'

Western Washington University’s College of Sciences and Technology will continue its “Wizards @ Western” youth lecture series with “Lights and Colors and Waves…Oh My!” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, in Science, Mathematics and Technology Education Room 150 on WWU’s campus.

The event is free and open to the public, and is geared toward children in grades 4-8.

Assistant Professor Elizabeth Raymond of WWU’s Chemistry Department will facilitate the lecture and perform a number of demonstrations that show the difference between mixing paint colors and light colors, different ways light is produced and some of the properties of laser light.

“Audience participation in asking and answering questions is highly encouraged,” Raymond said. “After the show there will be an opportunity for people to try out a few of the demos for themselves.”
