SPIE and Western’s Compass 2 Campus Program to Host ‘An Evening of Light’ Oct. 20 at the PAC

The International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) and Western Washington University’s Compass 2 Campus Program will host “An Evening of Light” from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20 at the Western Performing Arts Center.

The event is free and open to the public.

An Evening of Light celebrates the International Year of Light 2015 and features a presentation by Melissa Rice, a Western professor and a science team member of the NASA Mars Curiosity Rover vehicle. She will discuss how light is used to search for life and to study the ancient history of Mars.

The event will also be attended by other professionals in STEM fields, and will include a laser show and free souvenirs.
