'Some Girl(s)' continues March 7 on campus

Western Washington University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Some Girl(s),” a play written by Neil LaBute and directed by WWU associate theatre professor Rich Brown, from March 7 to 10 in the Performing Arts Center Underground Theatre.

The play opened Thursday, March 1. Intended for mature audiences, the production contains a scene of full male nudity, adult language and content.

Jason Huff stars as Guy and Shelby Easley as Sam in the production. The story follows the journey of Guy, a young man facing his impending wedding day, who decides to visit four former girlfriends. His odyssey takes him across the country through four hotel rooms as he attempts to learn about himself from past mistakes and make amends along the way.

“What he learns from each visit informs his future happiness with his fiancé,” says director, Rich Brown. “Everyone who has ever been in a romantic relationship, or ever plans to be in one, needs to see this production.”

Neil LaBute, a contemporary American playwright, dramatist ("Fat Pig") and filmmaker ("In the Company of Men"), creates a hilarious and serious look at the male psyche. According to Brown, the play asks, “Why do men do stupid things that ruin our lives, which make us lose our loves? This Guy, like many guys, is searching for that answer while stumbling along the way.”

“Some Girl(s)” will show at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, March March 7 to 10; as well as at 10:30 p.m. on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10. All performances will be held in Western’s PAC Underground Theatre.
