Ryzex founder Rud Browne to speak at WWU Nov. 4

Western Washington University’s College of Business and Economics will play host to Rud Browne for its Ethics and Social Responsibility Speaker Series from 3-4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4. in Fraser Hall Room 2.

The presentation is free and open to the public.

Browne is the Founder and Chairman of The Ryzex Group, a global mobile technology services company specializing in the full lifecycle management of barcode, mobile computer and RFID solutions. Started in 1989 from his apartment, Browne and his team have built the company into a $74 million business with operations in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and France.

Browne started his green-business career by recycling scrap metal at the age of 10 in his native Australia. He founded Ryzex to combine his technical and marketing skills with his passion to spend his professional life in a socially and environmentally positive way. His company is on “The Green 50," a list of the nation's most successful environmentally responsible companies. Additionally, The Bellingham Business Journal ranked Ryzex as its Most Environmentally Responsible Business of 2008. He is a past winner of the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the year and the Whatcom County Business person of the year awards.

He currently serves on the boards of the Whatcom County Ethics Commission, the Bellingham Public Development Authority, the Northwest Economic Council, the Bellingham City Club, St. Paul’s Academy, the Washington State Insurance Commissions Health Care Reform Realization Committee and the Whatcom Alliance for Healthcare Access Steering Committee.

The WWU College of Business and Economics Strategic Management Executive Strategy Speaker Series program brings senior business leaders to campus to interact with students and share their perspectives on strategic management, leadership, and professional development. The Speaker Series is presented by the CBE’s Center for Excellence in Management Education.
