Resident advisers needed for the coming school year

Residence Life at Western Washington University is looking for talented and committed student leaders to serve as resident advisers in Western’s residential communities for the 2014-15 school year.

Each year, the RAs make valuable contributions by supporting the 4,000 residents (92 percent are first-year students) who live on campus, helping them with their academic success and personal wellness.

Ideal candidates have a combination of the following:

  • An enthusiasm to learn
  • An ability to solve problems creatively
  • A sense of identity development and a desire to grow
  • A capacity to build and sustain relationships
  • Skills in empathy, curiosity and listening
  • Organization, time management and an ability to set priorities 

Compensation includes room and board plus a small cash stipend as described in the position agreement. RAs also get free break housing on campus and the opportunity to work closely with and learn from a wide variety of people, learn a great deal about oneself, receive extensive ongoing training and skill development and gain highly transferable skills.
