Public School Employees announces local scholarships

Public School Employees Chapter 829 of Western Washington University has awarded scholarships to Riley Gallagher, Gwyndolyn James, Shar Sarte Prince and Jamie Schelinski for 2012-13.

Gallagher, son of Cindy Jean Gallagher (Mount Lake Terrace School District), has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship and will enter WWU as a freshman this fall to study elementary education.

James, daughter of Steve James (engineering technician lead, engineering technology department), has been awarded a $500 scholarship and will complete her senior year at San Diego State, graduating with a degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management in 2013.

Sarte Prince (program manager, special education department) has been awarded a $500 scholarship and will attend the summer institute “Building Capacity for Educational Equity and Organizational Change” at WWU.

Schelinski, daughter of Dawn Childs (information technology specialist, WWU Telecommunications Services), has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship and will continue her studies towards an associate degree in culinary arts at Bellingham Technical College.
