Prominent Artist Lesley Dill to Speak About Her Work Oct. 21 at Western

Distinguished artist Lesley Dill will speak about her work and upcoming Whatcom Museum exhibition in a free, public lecture from 1 to 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 in Old Main Theater on the campus of Western Washington University.

Lesley Dill is one of the most prominent American artists working at the intersection of language and fine art. Her elegant sculptures, art installations, mixed-media photographs, and evocative performances draw from her travels abroad and profound interests in spirituality and the world’s faith traditions.

Exploring the power of words to cloak and reveal the psyche, Dill invests new meaning in the human form. Intellectually and aesthetically engaging, the core of her work emerges from an essential, visionary awareness of the world.

“Lesley Dill’s Poetic Visions: From Shimmer to Sister Gertrude Morgan” opens Sunday, Oct. 23 at Whatcom Museums’s Lightcatcher Galleries.

Lesley Dill’s lecture is sponsored by the Department of Art in the College of Fine and Performing Arts.
