Project to re-roof ES Building starts Wednesday

The contractor for the project to re-roof the Western Washington University Environmental Studies Building will begin setting up for construction on Wednesday, Aug. 15.

A truck crane will lift a roof crane to the roof above the north stair room 515. Once in place, the roof crane will be operated by a small gas motor similar to a small generator and will only run part time. A trash chute north of the northeast entry to ES will also be installed.

The first phase of construction will consist of the tear-off and replacement of all the roofing west of the north stair 515. At this time, it is assumed that the work will start above the 603 rooms and proceed east above 500 through 508.

Removal will be done by hand and, as such, will be relatively quiet. There may be some noise as the debris (foam and roofing) comes down the chute north of the ES north east entry.

The second phase will be the work over 512 through 520. The start date of that phase will be be provided once it's known.
