The Western men's basketball team won its ninth straight home game Thursday, Feb. 3, against the Western Oregon University Wolves. The Vikings emerged victorious with a final score of 85-79, avenging an earlier loss to the Wolves. The Vikings currently sit with a record of 12-7.

The Western Washington University women's basketball team defeated Seattle Pacific University, 67-57, on Wednesday, Feb. 2. The game was the 13th straight victory for the Vikings, who remain undefeated in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference. The game regionally televised by Fox Sports Northwest, which will also be broadcasting the men's rivalry game against Central Washington University on Feb. 16.

The Campus Activities Showcase, like the Red Square Info Fair, showcase AS clubs, Western academic departments and other community groups. The event takes place until 3 p.m. today and features performances, free giveaways and food.
There will be $300 worth of AS Bookstore giftcards and WWU gear in giveaways, as well as coupons for free market items and food provided by University Dining Services. The event will feature performances and displays from AS clubs. For disAbility accommodations, please call (360) 650-6121.
Forward Megan Pinske had a game-high 18 points and guard Amanda Dunbar added 17 as Western Washington University needed a strong finish to claim its 11th straight victory, a 64-59 triumph over pesky Northwest Nazarene University in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball game Thursday at Sam Carver Gymnasium on the WWU campus.
Artist Frank Warren spoke to a sold-out crowd in the Performing Arts Center at Western Washington University on Thursday, Jan. 27. Warren is best known for PostSecret, a project in which people all over the world send him notecards on which they have written personal secrets about themselves. After his talk, Warren autographed books outside the Viking Union Gallery, where hundreds of cards, collected from Western students, hung from the ceiling.

TV crew takes to campus for another reenactment of Ira Hyman's research into cell phone distractions
A reporter and cameraman from TV station News10 in Sacramento, Calif., were on campus Monday, Jan. 24, to film Western Washington University professor Ira Hyman and to re-stage (with WWU's Joe Myers on unicycle) Hyman's research on the distractions of cell phone use. The TV station's report will air in the next couple of weeks, said Lorraine Blanco, News10 weekend anchor and reporter.
Reconstruction of the 1940s wing of Miller Hall is proceeding as planned, with workers expected to be finished during fall quarter 2011. The work began in the summer of 2009 with the reconstruction of the 1960s wing.
