WWU gathers to reflect on Charleston shooting

Members of the Western Washington University community gathered in the PAC Plaza at noon Friday to reflect on the shooting in Charleston, S.C., Wednesday night. Nine people attending a Bible study at the historically black Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church were killed in the shooting, which appears to be racially motivated.

The gathering at Western was organized by the President’s Taskforce on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

A comment board was set up at the gathering for people in the Western community to share their thoughts on the shooting. The board is still available on the sixth floor of the Viking Union for those who want to add their comments.
