Hundreds of new Western Washington University students attended the Welcoming Convocation ceremony and fireworks display on campus Sept. 23.

The formal program included words of welcome by President Bruce Shepard, Associated Students President Belina Seare, faculty speaker Associate Professor Trula Nicholas, and Vice President for Enrollment and Student Services Eileen Coughlin.

At the conclusion of the formal program, students walked through a "human corridor" made up of volunteers during the traditional procession from the Performing Arts Center to the steps of Old Main, on their way to the fireworks show.
