Students gather on campus to show solidarity

Western Washington University students, faculty and staff gathered in Red Square Tuesday to observe a moment of silence and to hear several speeches as they processed the goings on in Ferguson, Mo., over the past few months.

The gathering was pulled together by the Associated Students Ethnic Student Center on campus. On a Monday Facebook post announcing the gathering, the center wrote "Come as you are to Red Square at 11:45 am. Bring a sign or don't but be ready to stand there in solidarity (whatever that looks like to you). If you want to speak to your truths then do it. I hope tomorrow we (students, staff, faculty, friends, and community members) can claim space on WWU's campus to stand in solidarity, speak, or be in silence; but just to be present."
