Photos show 90 years of Western, community

Photos detailing 90 years of life at Western Washington University and in the surrounding community are now on display in the hallway leading to the Western Libraries administration offices in the Haggard Hall side of Wilson Library.

The photographs depict people participating in campus and community events as well as in the natural environment. The Libraries’ Heritage Resources unit and Art Exhibit team worked collaboratively to create this exhibit.

Photograph titles were primarily supplied by the Art Exhibit team, except for those which had existing titles supplied by the photographer or the collector. For individuals wishing to pursue more information about these photographs, the collections themselves are viewable at each of the three Heritage Resources programs. In addition to housing the original photographs, the collections likely include other items of interest, as well as a wealth of contextual information. The Art Exhibit team encourages exhibits of all kinds in the gallery spaces within the Wilson Library building. Heritage Resources works to document the culture and history of Western, the local community and Pacific Northwest region and to promote public and scholarly access to holdings. The historic photographs were selected from all three Heritage Resources programs: the University Archives and Records Center, Special Collections and the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies.
